Reflection

Reflection Write an advertisement aimed at a practicular audience for the book you are reading: Dear read fondly I have a novel for you to read, but only if you're interested in a good story, with a lot of plots and a clever storytelling. It's playing a long time ago, what doesn't mean you can't transfer it to nowadays. It's written in an old elegant language and style. The story is about a young fellow who doesn't like to interact with people he doesn't know, what makes him seem pride. And about a girl who is always a little bit fast with judging over other persons, that's why the book has the title it has. Pride and Prejudice is an outstandingly good book, which is going to make you think about values in your own life. It's like a window to a long time ago, you get an insight how it was to life 300 years ago. So if you like to read an engrossing story, with different actions you can't foresee, than is Pride and Prejudice your book!

Characterization

Characterization Write a short letter to the author. tell them whats on your mind. Dear Jane Austen I recently read your book Pride and Prejudice, and i wanted to communicate you some things which are on my mind after finishing the book. First of all i want to congratulate you to this wonderful book.  I think it's very interesting to read, because there are a lot of plots, wich cause this. I also think it's a very outstanding book, as you wrote about important themes, but you wrapped them inside this book, so you first need to think about all the actions in the book to understand what it's really about. I also think you choosed the characters clever, because they are very polite, but still they have something independent und strong to their characters. After all it's a lovestory, but there are more themes inside it, if you carefully look. I thinks thats a refined style of writing a story. With appreciated greeting Carina Kirchmeier

Reflection

Reflection Write about what you are learning personally about this text: As i think in the book it's a lot about having his own mind, and just doing what you think it's right. I think this is something what i learned, that you should only do what you self can answer for. In the book Elizabeth is the one who always is honest and doesn't mind her words. But in the time they live it's very unusual to act with such an behavior. That's why her mother thinks Elizabeth is less worth than her sisters. And most people in the book and in this time of history generally didn't think to good about people who always just did and said what they wanted. Because it was appreciated to just be like anyone else and to not attract attention. But i think you can see how Elizabeth's character is a lot more interesting and it also testifies of intelligence. It's als recognizable that only clever people, as for example her dad, see the special feature in her character. And...

Characterization

Characterization Wirte about the relationship between two characters and how is it changing or developing? What are the characteristics of the relationship? What does work and what doesn't work? How do they affect one another? I write about the relationship between Elizabeth and Mr. Darcy. At the beginning of the book they don't like each other, or at least Elizabeth doesn't like Mr. Darcy. But as the time goes by, Mr. Darcy slowly begin to like Elizabeth. She doesn't notice this at first, and she got a lot of false informations about Mr. Darcy, what seems to affect her thinking about him. At the point where Mr. Darcy proposes to Elizabeth, she doesn't like him at all, because she just heard that he is responsible that Jane and Mr. Bingley didn't marry, and she still thought that Mr.Wickham told her the truth concerning his relation to Mr. Darcy. But after this Mr. Darcy write a letter for Elizabeth to explain everything, and i think that was the point whe...

Analysis

Analysis Name 5 of the main themes of the novel or play: I think in this book it's pretty easy to discover 5 of the main themes. Because while reading you always get confronted with the same themes. I think one of the main  themes is marriage, in the book they talk alot about marriage und you see how it was to have an relationship in this time epoch. So you needed to marry a girl, to even be together with her. Then an other theme i noticed was money. Not the money itself, but the people are worth the income they have in a year, so you are more important and respected if you have more money. And it's also significantly for the marriage. Furthermore i think the book is about being different, so for example. All the Bennet sisters just do what they got told, but not Elizabeth, she has her own mind and does only the things she want to represent. I think it's also about prejudice, but less about pride. Because the characters are always judging someone else, even if they h...

Reflection

Reflection At any point during your reading write down 5 questions you would like to have answered. Why did Mr.Wickham lie to Elizabeth in terms of his relation to Mr.Darcy? -At this point Mr. Darcy already told in his letter, what really happened between him and Mr. Wickham, but i don't get why Mr. Wickham lied to Elizabeth. I think it's probably because he wanted to make Mr.Darcy look bad, compared to himself. But then i'm asking myself if he wanted to impress Elizabeth, because he was attracted to Elizabeth? How does Elizabeth feel about Mr. Darcy at this point of the book? -I'm asking myself this question, because she turned down Mr.Darcy's engagement request. But he afterwards wrote her a letter in wich he explained some things what made elizabeth appear thoughtful, and i couldn't really say what she was thinking. Why does Mr. Edward and Mrs. Gardine know Mr.Darcy. Why is Mr. Darcy's house always open to visitors? -So i'm asking myself  what ...

Empathy

Empathy Say in what ways you wish a character would change/ develop or what you would like to happen in the life of some character. The person i'd like to change his character a little is Mr. Bingley. Is maybe not the right thing to say he should change his character, it's more he should express his character more. The only time when i saw him so far, doing something without any advice from someone else, was when he decided to dance the most with Jane Bennet on the .... I think he listen to much to his sister, who seems to have an a little dissatisfied character. I also think he counts a lot of Mr.Darcy's opinion, who also is mostly suspicious towards anyone. And i think that's a pitty, because Mr.Bingley appears openminded and mostly cheerfull. He should listen to his own mind, because that would be more helpfull for him, to discover his true love towards someone and admit it. I think it would be interesting to me as a reader , if he would reveal his personality mo...

Characterization

Characterization Write a short letter to one of th7/e characters. Tell them what is on your mind. Dear Elizabeth Bennet As i recently heard, you turned down Mr.Collins proposal of marriage. For this i want to tell you my deepliest recogniztion. It would have been a disaster to be married to Mr.Collins. I think you as very brave for always telling whats on your mind, you never mind your words. You rarely listen to your mothers advice, and honestly i think this is the wisest thing you could do. I have an other issue, i hope you would  question Mr. Wickham more, and the statements he mades. Because in my point of view he doesn't seem to be honest. And i hope espacially if you hear the truth about his story, that you don't like him anymore, because he seems like he isn't worth yours. For your sister i hope everything is going to be well with Mr. Bingley. Further i hope he recognize that he shouldn't always listen to his sister, she's definetly in no good spiriti...

Analysis

Analysis Wirte about the style the author uses. As the Book was written in 1796, it's written in an old style of language. So you never see any slang words or words which are used nowadays. The style how the sentences are written, is also different from today. It sounds very polite how the acting persons express themselves. I think it's also out of ordinary that hardly any bad words are used to insult someone. If once something bad is said to anyone, they still use polite words. But the insultings can still be just as hard as the mean words which are used in our time, because they insult the others with telling them the truth and saying exactly how badly they think about the other person. I think it's also harder to read such an old book, because i needed a lot more concentration to read out of the context. But the sentences i completely understood i thought sounded verry nice in this elegant style and without all the bad words, even if it's unusal to read. 171 ...

Empathy

Empathy Choose an important moment in the story for one of the character.(ie. what that character would put into his or her personal diary for that day when the important thing happened). Try to write in a style you think fits the character's personality. Dear Diary, It was a special week for me , because Jane Bennet came to visit Mr.Bingley and his sister, in order to dine with her. On her way to get here, she was riding her horse, but the wheater was really bad. So shortly after she arrived here, she got really sick. She needed to stay in Netherfield for a while, she wrote a letter to her family to inform them she's sick and she won't get home soon. So her sister Elizabeth Bennet decided to come and look after her. She is not such a good rider as her sister so she had been walking the whole way. The two Bennet sisters were very happy to see each other, and Elizabeth took care of Jane. Elizabeth didn't want to leave Jane so she also decided to stay ...
